I want to introduce myself (i haven't found a section for this)
I'm AndroidX, an happy and very satisfied rider of an tuono R 2005.
I live near ROME in Italy.
I'm the Gabro's italian friend that had developed the IR Sensor.
The original idea was rappresented to me by Gabro.
The idea is: We have a very nice an precise crono implemented in the dash;
....the finger to push the "lap" button is not perfect....and some riders push it before the "white Line" to take best lap.....:crowbar:
.....aprilia riders have very small budget..... (because the fuel costs) :cool:
.....in track there are IR turrets (beacons) placed by other riders...
So the idea is to detect and catch one IR signal from one existing turret to drive the "LAP" signal.
My actual version of the system catch a wide variety of turret, is not code sensitive and can work with every turret placed in the track.
So you don't have to buy a IR turret (you don't spend this money)
And if there are other turrets on the track??
I have implemented a DELAY TIME.....so when the sensor catch an IR signal, the sistem put the ir sensor in STBY for a time than you can select with a rotative switch (i can change these time if requested without costs).
So for example....if on the track you have 5 IR turret on the start, and other 6 ir turret after 45 sec. for the 1st middle time, you can put the "black time" at 50 sec. so you catch only the first one.
I hope that have explain clearly.
The sensor:
- have only 3 wires to connect (+12;ground; lap)
- have a good sunlight / vibration rejection;
- Have a rotative switch to select in a fast way the BLACK TIME;
- Have an on/off switch;
- Have two part cable with connector to easily remove the sensor (you can leave the other part of cable on the motorcycle)
- Have an alghorithm to reject false detection, sunlight or vibration;
- Catch only coded IR turret on every frequency transmit;
- It's upgradable;
- the circuit is well noise rejected;
- The wire is flexible;
- have two coloured led to explain how it work instantly;
- Is very beautiful :lover: (the cap on it is black not brown like in the pictures)
- The distance of 8 meter is decided in function of italian track and the necessity to reject false revelation...is not a problem to catch over 16 or more meters .
The VEGO sensor that you show link here seem be a car-door sensor ( i translate the page with babelfish)
So if you pass the door with you car while it's closing the IR beam is interrupted....the relais change state
and the door stop immediatly.
This sensor don't have the "black delay time"
don't have the led for function
Is not sunlight or vibration free (rejection of false revelation....see the instruction about black tube)
can't catch all turrets on the track
more than 3 wires to connect
it's not upgradable
it's not wonderful like mine
and so on

The system is under continuous development...so i'm working to update a new switch position (a new position...so you can select the old mode or the new mode) to sincronize the sensor with a coded turret.....and Gabbro ask to develope a LOW cost coded ir turret for the sensor.
